Hillary Clinton received a brief moment of sunshine yesterday when a new poll showed her doing better than Obama in a head-to-head matchup with John McCain, but today we get a grim reminder of just how weakened her campaign has become. Obama ended March with $40 million raised, despite the week long flare up over the Wright controversy. We don’t know how much Clinton raised, but given that they aren’t going to release the figures until April 20th, when they are required to by the FEC, you can bet that her numbers are dismal. Sen. Clinton has already had to loan her cash-strapped campaign $5 million of her own money. How much longer can they go on?

Hillary released her fund raising for April and it was $20 million. Her campaign seemed pleased with themselves since they made so much more than McCain. They also claim they’ve paid their bills.

Yeah, I saw that she ended up releasing her numbers. I’ll even grant them that they’ve paid their bills (does that include Clinton’s $5 million loan to her own campaign?), but the truth is that being out raised 2-1 by your opponent is simply indefensible. Obama’s outspending her by large margins in all the upcoming state. Clinton needs a miracle at this point. A genuine miracle.

Well yeah, but he’s gaining on her in Pennsylvania almost exponentially, so he has to be doing something besides just making more and spending more. And I won’t assume they’ve paid their bills because I don’t really believe anything from them.
